Harriet- I just wanted to give you an update on Sadie
(formerly Marcy). She has been a truly amazing dog – so well behaved and
all she wants is for you to love her! She’s currently enrolled in school
and has won all the competitions in class so she’s very smart and
learning fast J I am always
getting asked where I got her and of course I tell them about Ruffus
Rescue and what a wonderful job you do. She’s adapted very well from the
first car ride of her climbing all over the place to now sleeping
soundly on the floor as we drive to work each day. She gets along great
with other dogs and people are amazed at how well behaved she was right
off the bat. I will keep you posted, but I just wanted to let you know
how appreciative I am and how well she is doing!

Last month we had the pleasure of finding Marley (the little merle
Catahoula in the front) on Harriet’s website. Marley now has completely
blended into our family of 3 dogs and a cat. This picture is of Marley
with her new older brother Boogey. |

Good Morning Harriet,
I hope this message finds you well. Just wanted to send you a quick
update of assurance that Vanessa LOVES the new boy, who we have renamed
Kipper. He learned his name in 2 tries because he is so smart.
China and he are settling in nicely and the cats are getting used to the
fluffy bouncing presence in their previously peaceful home. Both dogs
sleep in our bedroom at night each on their own dog beds, without a
peep, until I get up in the morning and then go out immediately to do
their biz. After a couple of days, we have also left them alone
together in "gen pop" and they did fine and the house was completely
intact so I don't think we'll be using the crate.
We are watching Kipper's diet and besides the walk that he and China
take together, and his backyard ball chase and retrieve playtime, I also
give him his own special 1 mile romp each evening in a nearby
neighborhood with sidewalks -- we are working our way up to 3 miles
eventually -- it'll be good for both of us. Today we go to the vet to
get his hotspots treated as the Bitter Apple and Benadryl just aren't
doing enough for him poor guy. Otherwise, he's as happy as a lark,
giving sweet kisses and tail wags all the time, and just so gosh darn
smart (oh, I said that already). We love him dearly and it's like he's
always been a part of our happy family.
Thanks so very much
for the gift of him and for all the work you do on behalf of unwanted
animals, Olivia

Hi
Harriett,
Here's
another update on Bella (formerly Lattia), the world's most fabulous
dog. Just brought her home from her spay follow up and all is well.
She's put on 15 lbs since we brought her home in February and tops the
scales at 35 lbs! With her long legs and golden/red coat she looks a
lot like a fawn all sprawled out wherever she chooses. We had a
misdiagnosis on her mange as allergies but we're back on track now. She
stopped scratching the first day of the mange medicine and improves
daily. Her coat is silky smooth and thick.
Her
favorite thing in the world is me. If I simply cross the room to get
something, she follows. Yes, of course I love it! Other well-loved
things include her three kids (she cries for them when they get out of
the car to go to school), her food, and her boyfriend Riley, the golden
retriever next door.
The
only thing that could make Bella's life better is if any of the three
cats would play with her. If she could just get ONE of them to lighten
up a little and have some fun with her, she'd be thrilled.
Still,
we are absolutely thrilled with her. A service man in my home said to me
the other day "that dog gets more love than any dog I've ever seen."
And he's right. Thank you so much for rescuing her so she could enrich
our lives. If we give her half as much joy as she brings us, then we're
doing pretty well.

Hi
Harriett,
We just wanted to let you know that Roxie is doing very well and loves
her new life. She is such a sweet and friendly dog that we feel like we
have hit the jackpot. She loves to play with our two girls and play
chase with our two cats. She was even featured on our Christmas card
this year. Photo attached. Thanks for all you do.

I adopted Lulu
in July 2006 and she has brought an enormous amount of joy into my
life. I hope that at the same time I’ve made a difference in hers.
Thank you so much for bringing us together.
Best wishes,
Cathy

Thought you might want an update on
Emma (Rosebud).
She's doing great. Her mange is all
cleared up. She now weighs 31.3 pounds. We couldn't imagine our life
without her now and am so glad we happened upon Pet Supermarket that
particular Saturday afternoon!
These pictures are from the first
weekend we got her. She's grown a lot since then!

Beau is settling in well. I'm convinced that
Dale is his favorite person and they are spending most of their time
together in the living room where Beau's sleeping crate is also
placed. We're all sharing in the walking.
Beau won't have the run of the indoors for
awhile, as the cats are still adjusting to having a big, black dog
in the house..............
Again--many thanks,
Barbara

Hi Harriett! It's
Ben (they call me Lambert now)! My new mom took some pictures of
me to send to you so you would know I am adjusting just fine and I
wanted to say hello and thank you for taking such good care of me!
I have been doing lots of fun things over the
last month! My new folks
take me on 3 walks a day and my mom runs with me every morning! I get
very excited when she grabs her sneakers and it helps me to sleep most
of the day while she is at work!
On weekends they take me just about everywhere
with them. To the park,
to visit my new grandparents (who buy me the best treats) and last
weekend I went and watched my Dad play kickball!
My mom's best friend also has a black lab named
apple. I have a little
crush on her and go over for a play date once a week. Apple has a big
yard and we run around for hours!
Well, I gotta go...time for walk :)
See ya soon!
Love,
Lambert (and Kelly and Greg!)

Harriett, We just wanted to let you know that we got home just fine
and she is settling in like she has lived her all her life. We changed
her name to Bella Sue. Joe is Italian (in case you couldn't tell from
...our last name, and Bella means "Beautiful" in Italian. And of course,
being a Southern Belle dog, she had to have two names...hence, the Sue.
:) She slept most of the way home with her head on my lap....I was in
love already!!! When we got home she went straight thru the dog door and
into her new backyard. So I guess she's home now.
Thank you SO much for all for your help and for fostering her so
well.....she is a beauty and I know we will have lots of wonderful years
with her.
God bless you for what you do for these animals.....it is obvious
that you care and nurture them with great love and affection. We will
make sure that she never gets less than she deserves now that we are her
"people".
Thanks again, we'll send pictures when we get some.

Hi
Harriett, Hope you're doing well. We had a great week with Chester,
and have even found a few dog buddies in the neighborhood to keep him
company. Lots of tail wagging... Seems like he's been with us forever.
Sending along a picture for your site. Please forward us the URL if you
get a minute.
Take care, and thanks again for bringing us together with Chester.

Hi Harriett,
This is Kerri and Tim, Patton (Homer's) parents. :) Patton is
doing soooooo well!! He loves his backyard and this weekend he
had a weekend slumber party with his friends (Sutton and
Jewels). He has adapted to the lifestyle very well and is so
well behaved. We are training for a 5K, so Patton has been
really enjoying the exercise and even wakes up early to tell us
it is time to go run! He had what we believe were tape worms,
and we bought Praziquantel which cleared it right up. He has
so far learned a lot of new tricks: Sit, stay, shake with both
paws, and roll over. We are so proud! He is such a good
dog, and we just wanted to update you on how well he is doing.
Thanks so much for changing your mind and letting us take him
home. We sure got lucky with this rescue pup! I have
misplaced my camera, but will email you pictures as soon as we
find it.
Thanks!
